Antioxidants Are Necessary In Controlling Free Radicals and Oxidation

Free radical is the term used for molecules or atoms that contain unpaired electrons constantly looking for mates. These electrons steal electrons from other molecules, thus causing a process called oxidation. Oxidation causes the molecules to become unstable and deteriorate.
Excesses of free radicals are implicated in the development of cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, cancer, macular degeneration, and aging, among others.
Antioxidants are molecules that have extra electrons that they give to free radicals, therefore neutralizing them. Therefore what we need to make sure we have first in our diet and supplementation are ANTIOXIDANTS.
